Is there a link to the MTEB or to the actual document that I missed? ?

The MTEB (Mobile Telephone Examination Board) Eighth Edition Section 4 Mobile Telephone Seizure Procedure (Mobile Weapons) updates on new items and handling procedures for them.

Yes the link is now up - FCORD2016 Chapter 27 Discussion Document Seizure and Handling preparing a Best Practice Model.

As the mobile phone adapted as a weapon was new on the market, the post was to highlight the issue first. Time was still needed to create a discussion document as to why updating Seizure and Handling Procedures would be necessary.

Once feedback is received from MTEB and IDF members then the Best Practice Model Procedure can be written. If anyone here on Forensic Focus would like to provide feedback and helpful observations then their contribution will be recorded along with the contributor's name.

Thanks

I am confused. ?

I will ask a few questions if you don't mind, of course feel free to answer only those that you can or none at all).

What is MTEB (Mobile Telephone Examination Board)?
What is IDF (Institute for Digital Forensics)?
Do they have a
1) site?
2) statute?
3) any public available info about their scope/activity/etc.?
4) are they an association, a school of some kind, a committee, or what?
4) are they an "open" association or reserved to (say) LE, gov, UK, etc. ?

The post on the blog makes reference to a
"MTEB (Mobile Telephone Examination Board) Eighth Edition Section 4 Mobile Telephone Seizure Procedure"
What is it/where is it/how can one get a copy of it?

The addition is called
FCORD2016 Chapter 27 Discussion Document Seizure and Handling preparing a Best Practice Model

What is FCORD (FORENSIC CONFERENCE ON RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENTS)? (a conference, a meeting, is it public/for members only and when/where can it be found/attended)

What is "Chapter 27"? (I mean just a name or 26 previous chapters exist and possibly a later 28th, 29th. etc.)?
Or is it a reference - somehow - to J.Salinger's The Catcher in the Rye ? 😯

Jaclaz most of the questions you have asked are answered in the download document. So please excuse me if I do not respond to the list you have made as I would simply be copying and pasting.

If you were a LinkedIn member the same as Forensic Focus and as are a number of FF members you would find the information about MTEB and IDF.

Correct me if I am wrong but I seem to recall from a previous post you made here that you were not involved in evidence handling and examination. But it is kind of you to enquire, thank you.

Thank you D

You are welcome, I read it, and got the final message alright )

BEST PRACTICE PRINCIPLE
* SEIZURE AND HANDLING PROCEDURES NEED TO BE APPLIED ON A CASE BY CASE AND A DEVICE BY DEVICE BASIS, ALSO *

Before, I was able to find a group there called "Institute for Digital Forensics (IDF)" owned by you
https://www.linkedin.com/grps/Institute-Digital-Forensics-IDF-2436720?
With this description

The Institute for Digital Forensics (IDF). The aims and objectives of the Institute facilitates its members professional development and forensic and evidential learning and skillsets covering all forms of digital forensic examination and evidence.

Membership of the Institute is open to experts, examiners, students, network operators and providers, solutions architects, security and telecommunications management, legal practitioners and law enforcement.

(bolding is mine)

and these Rules (excerpt)

Members must be experienced in the discipline of work connected with digital forensics and evidence in order to facilitate member discussions and nurture quality of topics to be posted.

that are seemingly contrasting. ?

I was also able to find another group there called "Mobile Telephone Examination Board" also owned by you
https://www.linkedin.com/groups/141739/profile

With this description

The MTEB is dedicated to evidential standards, forensic examination and lawful interception dealing with mobile telephones/SIM/USIM/MMC, bluetooth, IrDA, USB, cell site analysis and mobile networks GSM, CDMA, 3G, 4G.

Membership may be subject to vetting.

My questions were about the "Institute" and the "Board" being anything more or besides two "discussion groups" on Linkedin and on which requisites were needed to join them.

As well, about FCORD I could not (sorry) understand if it is a "a discussion and presentation channel for MTEB and IDF members and practitioners" (i.e. something like the nice .pdf you posted, a document or publication) or a "conference" in the sense of a physical meeting held (say) annually (hence "2016").

The "MTEB (Mobile Telephone Examination Board) Eighth Edition Section 4 Mobile Telephone Seizure Procedure (Mobile Weapons)" is I presume a publication of some kind, and was asking if it was available (public) or not and if yes how to get a copy of it.

Jacopo Lazzari thank you for the advertisement. You are welcome to join MTEB and IDF, please do not worry about being excluded we are not exclusive to law enforcement and welcome newcomers if you work in mobile phone seizure, handling and examination. I note you are a freelancer in the engineering and construction industry, so would be very interested to see your take on how that translates to mobile phone seizure, handling and examination? Always good to have new skillsets to help the profession.

Our work is free, like so many of my other professional colleagues in this profession who equally give so much of their time free to provide help and support to the community.

Yes the document does provide what you need and when updated in the release Section it will be available. It would be most useful to get your contribution here or at MTEB/IDF on seizure and handling procedures? From your reading of the discussion document can you provide any assistance at all on this subject?

Thanks
