Forensic Computing/ Digital Forensics Expert (Durham, UK)

Post Posted: Fri Mar 03, 2017 10:33 am

As a result of growing case work volumes we have vacancies for an experienced computer examiner and/or a graduate with a Computer Science or Forensic Computing degree, or those with recent relevant employment experience, to join our team in Durham. Higher level academic or technical expertise will be an advantage.

Our Digital Forensics Team undertakes casework across the breadth of the discipline. The specific opportunities at this point are in the area of computer examinations. Full training will be provided, as necessary for the skill sets of the successful candidates.

After training the roles involve:
•Determining customer requirements and preparing appropriate scopes of work;
•Use of industry standard software and manual extraction skillsets to examine computer hard drives and the data recovered from digital storage media, to establish existence and provenance of relevant information as is necessary in individual case contexts;
•Preparation of written reports which are accurate and whose presentation enables those using the reports to understand the evidential value of the information examined;
•As required, to advise Counsel, prepare joint expert statements and present evidence that is clear and concise at Court.

Candidates must have a clean driving licence and the ability to travel throughout the UK and Ireland to undertake examination work and attend Court. The position is based at our facilities in Durham. Salary will be commensurate with experience and technical skills. Other terms and conditions are available on application. In the first instance please send your CV with cover letter [email protected] for the attention of Dr Aidan Borer.
