Hi,
suppose that i have my hd (internal or external) and that all works fine and
i'm pretty sure to be "clean" from malware…and that in case of external hd i use "safely remove hardware"…

Is there the possibilty that some "issue" due to power line or other external "agent" could damage/alter my hd sectors or the mbr itself or $MFT?

Thanks

I don't know about damaging it, but it will access the file system, as it is not write protected in any way! You will be altering original data, as Windows will want to access an attached/mounted device. I'm not too sure what you are asking, can you be more specific?

🙂

is there any possibility that due to some power "problem" or something similar (bad UPS and so on), hd (and so it's internal structure to keep data)
could be damaged?

thanks

Yes it's possible a hard drive can fail from a cause such as physical damage. A particle of dust entering the internal working parts can result in a head crash. Yes - it's possible for data to become corrupted due to physical damage. A power surge, failure/stresses and strains, magnetic fields, and high temperatures may cause damage. The pixy dust is susceptible to thermal rises/problems.

Ahhhh…… Yes the witches cauldron where 'magic pixy dust' is made is a black art indeed 🙂

A power surge/spike or cut could result in a head crash and disk damage. It could also damage the PCB as well.
