hello everybody,
i have recently replaced my cdrom with a dvdrom. the first time i booted on the pc everything was ok but the second time i got the error message: "Invalid system disk, Replace the disk, and then press any key".
What went wrong? I want to mention that i didn't do anything with the "jumper" at the back of the dvdrom to put it in the "slave" position. Do you thing that my problem has to do with this?

p.s i have recenly formatted my pc and i have a virus protection

Firstly, it may sound facetious (and I apologise in advance) but have you left any software in the floppy disk drive? It might be that you machine is trying to boot first to your floppy and you have left your new CD software floppy disk in.

Secondly you might want to look at the BIOS, where your setup resides. The BIOS determines which device to use as the "boot device."Look at your boot sequence, it might be set to boot specifically to the old CD-ROM drive as first choice, and because it is no longer present, it fails and throws up the error message. Try setting it to boot first to your HDD.

Try setting you IDE detection to AUTO in the BIOS, save and reboot.

The error message is customary when the system cannot find an MBR.

If all else fails remove the attached DVD leaving only the HDD and see if it boots. At least you will narrow down the problem to the newly installed hardware. Also make sure you have inserted the IDE cable in your HDD correctly (and on the motherboard).
