Hello everyone,

I acquired an image from a suspect PC and mounted it using Mount Image Pro. Everything fine so far until I attempted to open the drive and got the "Disk is not formatted, do you want to format now?" message.

Does anyone know of a tool to get around this, or did I manage to screw up the image?

I'm thinking that this is happening because the image I'm tying to mount on an XP machine was originaly created on a machine running on NT.

Tried to use VMware to load the image under an NT environment, however Mount Image Pro will not run in VMware….I was wondering if anyone knew of the compatibility amongst VMware and MIP.

What do you know about the original? Could it have been FDISKed? Can you view any data in hex?

I'm pretty sure it has not been FDISKed.

With FTK I was able to load the image with no problems, and recovered some deleted files.

I would like to mount the image so I could use some additional data recovery software.

Try different mount opion like -mount as logical drive and mount as single drive.

Did FTK show the diskspace as unallocated or unused or used?

I mounted a drive that was fdisked and it gave the same message you reported to which I answered no and was able to mount it and run recovery tools on it.
