Location: DLA, J6C Information Operations, Columbus / Columbus, OH


The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) is a U.S. Department of Defense
(DoD) agency. DLA provides worldwide logistics support for the
missions of the Military Departments and the Unified Combatant
Commands under conditions of peace and war. It also provides logistics
support to other DoD Components and certain Federal agencies, foreign
governments, international organizations, and others as authorized


THIS IS A TERM POSITION - NOT TO EXCEED (3) YEARS (due to the
position being encumbered. Occupancy of this position is subject to
the return of the former incumbent. Selectee will be required to sign
a statement acknowledging that he/she understands that this position
is encumbered).


This vacancy will be filled through OPM's Direct Hire Authority. All

OF UNDERSTANDING REGARDING THE CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENT AND
MAINTAINING THE APPROPRIATE CERTIFICATION IS A CONDITION OF

MAJOR DUTIES:


This position is located within the Information Operations Directorate
(J-6), Information Operations, Columbus, DLA Computer Emergency
Response Team (CERT) Division, Analysis and Support Branch. Serves as
the primary computer network defense analyst responsible for defending
a portion of the Agency's computers and networks from attacks from
within and outside of the Agency. Responsible for detecting and
providing responses to computer and network security events and
advising Information Technology Specialists at suppored organizational
locations of ways to protect systems and networks. Analyzes captured
data by utilizing Information Assurance (IA) tools, configures
assigned IA tools to detect new intrusion types and maintains IA tool
logs for review. Reviews and assesses security postures and
recommends action and remedial or protective measures for responding
to patching and disabling software, and for blocking vulnerable
protocols at network perimeters. Assesses risk and vulernabilities
for field activities and monitors customer communications to provide
required responses in accordance with security protocols and
guidelines.


QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Applicant must possess at least one year of specialized experience
equivalent to the next lower grade level or pay band in the federal
service which has equipped the applicant with the particular
knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of
the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to
be filled. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: experience and and skill in
applying IT security principles, methods, and IT security products and
services that protect information assets. Use of one or more
commercial IA tools, in particular McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO),
to address the security and compliance requirements associated with
DLA information security and protection efforts (i.e., specific
firewall and intrusion detection systems); in-depth knowledge of
Incident Handling practices and processes and computer forensics
principles in order to identify, categorize, assess, report, and
respond to security incidents and computer networking (TCP/IP
protocols), and one or more operating systems (UNIX or Microsoft
Windows), in order to understand the nature of risks and
vulnerabilities to be managed; knowledge of federal, DoD and DLA
information assurance policies and procedures, including Information
Assurance Vulnerability Alert (IAVA), Information Assurance Condition
(INFOCON) and Information Technology Certification and Accreditation
(DITSCAP) processes for review and assessment of security postures and
to recommend remedial or protective measures. Ability to isolate and
analyze relevant data to conduct analyses of complex issues affecting
the specialty area.
