Hi all

I am a third year computing student and am doing a report into the emerging and future technologies in mobile forensics. I am okay for all the emerging technologies side but am really struggling with future ideas. I am looking really to pick your brains as to what you think the future might be, it can be as off the wall as you want!

Any help is very much appreciated.

Thanks
Vanessa

Are subdermal implants (e.g. RFID and beyond) classified as emerging or future technology, I wonder?

Hi Jamie

Thanks for replying, at the risk of sounding thick.. I am not sure how subdermal implants would be used in this respect and have not heard of their use being related to mobile forensics. Could you explain please?

Many Thanks
Vanessa

Broadly speaking I was thinking of chips which might be used for payment or identification purposes and any attendant issues related to authentication, identification, fraud etc. Of course, it depends on your definition of "mobile forensics" but you did say off the wall 😉

I did mean mobile phone forensics , I realise now I didn't make that clear so sorry! However, although you probably meant your answer with relation to a different kind of mobile forensics, it has actually got me thinking down another line of thought which I wouldn't have otherwise so thanks!!

Maybe I should be looking more to where the future of mobile phones will be in the future as to then be influencing the future of the related forensics, any ideas anyone?!

Thanks again

Vanessa

No worries. Even in relation to mobile phones alone I think payment and ID issues will be huge in the future (admittedly, the mobile phone industry has been banging on about the benefits of such services for a long time without them really having taken off).

If Greg Smith's around I'm sure he'll have a few more ideas.

Future of Mobile Forensics?

If WiFi coverage becomes the new cellular coverage and then all new phones 5G etc use VOIP then you may be able to/have to run forensics on the server that they connect too?
