Can anybody give me a rough idea how much flasher boxes cost that can do hex dumping (presume their is additional software)? Do these boxes cover the majority of phones or like the software just cover a specific phone population? Any recommended products I can research further!

PS - any recommended UK based software tools for mobile forensics would be useful too, BitPim doesnt seem to be very UK freindly / cover many UK phones.

Prices of all flasher boxes can be found at http//www.fonefunshop.co.uk/.

There isn't a one flasher box solution that cover all phones. You will have to but multiple boxes to cover all makes (but not all models).

I have some experience with the JAF box on Nokia phones. The JAF box has a 'fls read' (this should be a raw read from the user flashdrive) function, but it is only supported for Nokia DCT4 models and not for Nokia BB5 models. Unfortunately, all newer Nokia models are BB5 and thus cannot be imaged. Even more, I tried the fls read on a Nokia 6600 which is DCT4, but it is not supported.
I am very interested in your further findings, please keep us posted.

Hi

You may want to look at two of my tools.

PmExplorer is designed to work with PM files from Nokia files, as forensic-bob says these are mainly the DCT4s although you can get some data from the BB5's this is very limited. PmExplorer is a great tool (according to my users) for learning how the data is stored on these (and other) phones.

RevEnge is a Hex viewer with lots of features that are mobile phone specific.

see the links in my signature and feel free to ask any questions.
