Digital Forensics Analysts - Guildford

Post Posted: Tue Apr 25, 2017 2:59 am

From laptops to high capacity servers, games consoles to phones, digital CCTV systems to satellite navigation systems, digital devices and tech are a vital part of nearly every police investigation. Which means you could use your expertise in them to keep people safe.

You’ll be right at the centre of it all, managing and examining high priority, technically complex cases which could involve high risk of threat or harm. That will include the initial forensic retrieval of digital data and combining specialist software with your own analytical skills to establish the user’s activity with it. Beyond this, officers will need your advice and support in the handling, recovery and preservation of digital evidence, while your reports and statements will be used in courts of law.

The work is fascinating as well as invaluable. Like your colleagues, you’ll be adept at examining computer and mobile phone devices, and your knowledge will cover digital imaging techniques, electronic extraction of data, disassembling/assembling hardware and a good understanding of ISO 17025. Of course, you’ll be able to solve problems in a fast-paced, analytical environment. At this point we are particularly keen to hear from candidates that already have experience in the examination of mobile phones.

We believe in work/life balance and well-being, we’re members of the Stonewall Diversity Champions Programme and recognise the value of reflecting the community we serve, in order to provide the best possible service and keep people safe. Your career mans a lot to us, and what you’re capable of could benefit whole communities. For those reasons we want to encourage applications from underrepresented groups, to help achieve our ambition to improve the diversity of Surrey and Sussex Police.
