Job description
The Fraud Investigation Service (FIS) Directorate provides HMRC with an effective investigation arm to enforce the Exchequer’s Compliance Policies and deliver against the strategic responsibilities across direct, indirect tax, criminal finance, excise regimes and frontiers.

FIS Specialist Delivery branch is responsible for the provision of a range of technical and forensic capabilities to FIS and the wider HMRC in support of criminal and civil investigations. Candidates will work as part of Specialist Delivery within the Digital Forensic Group and will be responsible for providing detailed forensic analysis to support operational teams.

The primary role is to provide specialist advice, guidance and support to HMRC and CPS in relation to criminal investigations by collecting, analysing and presenting digital evidence from digital devices in support of criminal prosecutions. Specifically, you would be required to recover, extract, analyse and present data and information from digital devices for use in HMRC civil and criminal proceedings.

The role of the Senior Forensic Practitioner is pivotal to the success of the team and offers varied and challenging work. It is therefore essential that applicants have current experience of conducting digital forensic examinations gained over at least 5 years in a commercial, legal or law enforcement environment, and have produced expert evidence for use in the criminal or civil prosecution field.

This will include knowledge and understanding of criminal justice procedures including the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act (RIPA), the Police Act 1997, Criminal Procedures and Investigations Act (CPIA) and the Police and Criminal Evidence Act (PACE), with emphasis on disclosure obligations and procedures surrounding LPP material.

Salary
£35,761 - £40,194 (National) £38,674 - £43,451 (London) plus additional flexibility attendance allowance £18,242.54
