Hey All,
I have a pinlocked Samsung Galaxy S6 (SM-G920T1) that I need to get data off of. With the FRP enabled, it looks like I have two options
1. Find a method to remove the FRP so I can use Cellebrite or load a custom bootloader
2. Remove the UFS chip and give the Dediprog NuProg-E a shot in extracting the data
What I would like to know is
A. Can somebody point me in the direction of a method that will remove the FRP without wiping the userdata? I heard of the ODIN method, as well as Octoplus and the Z3X Samsung Tool, but I cannot determine if the userdata will be preserved.
B. Does anybody have experience with the UFS chip in the Galaxy S6? I would like to know if it's encrypted by default, or if there's a way to find out if it was enabled without needing the PIN lock.
I want to choose the method with the least risk. If an FRP unlock faces potential data wipe AND interference of an encrypted disk, I may want to go ahead with a chip-off if there's no way to determine if the chip is encrypted.
If anybody can chime in, that would be very helpful. Thank you very much.
According to Cellebrite UFED Phone Detective, the latest UFED 4PC supports the following for this model
SM-G920T1 Galaxy S6 Logical, File system, Physical, Password bypass
Thanks for your response.
I have noticed this actually on one of the later releases, however the process failed for this device. I believe this is due to the FRP and Cellebrite trying to gain access to the bootloader.
DediProg will be best method which will give full physical dump hoever before attempt make sure that IC chip are supported - there are some Toshiba that aren't supported by NuProg 😉
Other way is prepare special boot which you will upload to phone and it will Bypass code without wiping data - then you can activate Developer option and allows OEM unlock…. if you will need help contact for me privately with exactly phone version which you got (you can read it from Download mode and Recovery Mode)
Thanks for your response. Won't the FRP lock interfere with this method?
No
Have you come across the XPIN clip? This can be used too (it supports 4x to 6x android versions).
@Bolo, correct me if i'm wrong but isn't that FRP reset feature by UART that's suited for UFS based phones be enough to bypass that? It doesn't wipe data as far as know.
@arcaine If you will make FRP remove using Download mode it will wipde data, with UART it schouldn't touch data but….. always a risk. Approach is different - use special signed boot for phone (it will not touch KNOX containers) to bypass code which phone is locked and allows OEM Unlock
@PB10 it will not work in latest Samsung since counter of code increase after each try…. but can be used in many native Android 6.x
