Hello everyone!

I have a problem with data extraction from Samsung Galaxy S8 with Android version 7. First of all the smartphone doesn't have a password and settings was set up (developers options). There is no forensic sound way to root it (it's will be wipe), so physical image is not the option. I can extract information through adb backup, but from the smartphone with 64 GB memory extracted only 150 MB data. I used UFED Touch and Oxygen Forensic and Andriller and simple adb and got nothing more, except UFED extracted images and videos. I tried changed android backup options but it requires connection to the internet and obviously, I can't do that. If someone did something like that or can say what I did wrong, please help. Sorry for bad English and thanks to everyone for attention!

Here are some options

1) MOBILedit Forensic Express ($99.00/phone) - http//www.mobiledit.com/online-store/forensic-express

2) Carbonite - https://www.carbonite.com/apps/call-log-sms-backup-restore/

Do you have the phone in MTP mode? It sounds like you may be in PTP mode which as far as I know only gives you the images and videos…

You can change this mode either from the developer options, or if you swipe down from the top of the screen and and there should be a notification which indicates which mode you are in.

Just my two pennies

First of all, I want to say thank you and UnallocatedClusters for the feedback.

2) Carbonite - https://www.carbonite.com/apps/call-log-sms-backup-restore/

MOBILedit doesn't help and carbonite is not an option because I can't install anything on this smartphone.

I tried both and it didn't work. Now I'm pretty sure it's because of Android 7 security issues.

Thank you for the feedback!

Unfortunately there’s not much you can do with a S8 right now.
I would do a logical extraction and an adb file system backup with ufed. The tool really doesn’t matter much, I don’t think there’s one that can do more. The phone would need to be rooted to access more data and that doesn’t seem to be possible right now.

Physical extraction of locked and unlocked S8 devices is provided to LE through Cellebrite CS (formerly CAIS).

Thank you for the feedback! I guess I can't do anything more.

Thank you for the feedback! I looked at Cellebrite website and didn't found information about Samsung galaxy S8 - the newest model is S7.
