The Digital Forensic Unit (DFU) is responsible for the handling digital evidence seized or acquired by the Serious Fraud Office. This includes the collection of evidence on site, forensic processing of any items seized or received from third parties, and the processing of these items into a medium that Case Teams can access through the SFO Digital Review System (DRS). The team works closely with the DRS support team, Case teams and third party suppliers to ensure that required material is delivered in a timely and appropriate manner.

DFU Investigators are required to carry out a number of tasks on daily basis working alongside other analysts and investigators. These tasks can include Forensic imaging and acquisition, liaising with case teams, elements of eDiscovery and reporting clear and concise details of progress and findings.

The postholder also has the management responsibility of DFU Analysts, supervising and quality assuring their work, monitoring development and identifying appropriate training. Please refer to the attached job description for more information.

Person specification

• Extensive experience of using forensic tools such as EnCase, Nuix and Cellebrite, XRY, FTK.
• Good working knowledge of mobile forensics, data analytics and eDiscovery.
• Extensive knowledge of computer based hardware, IT systems and terminology.

• Experience of working in a Law Enforcement environment
• Exposure to or knowledge of E Discovery platforms
• Knowledge and experience of ISO 17025

• Computer and/or Digital Forensics degree OR extensive experience as a Digital Forensic Analyst.
• Certification in one or more of the following areas: EnCase Certified (EnCE), Nuix Investigation Certified Specialist (NICS), Cellebrite Certification (CCLO or CCPA) or a demonstrable path to acquiring such certification within a one year timeframe.
