Advanced Associate - Team Leader, Cyber Forensics, Enforcement & Market Oversight Division
The salary range will be approximately 50,000 to 85,000 GBP plus a competitive benefits package and non-contributory pension.

Background

The Enforcement & Market Oversight Division (EMO) investigates and brings disciplinary action, civil cases and criminal prosecutions, on behalf of the FCA with the aim of achieving credible deterrence by changing behaviour in the financial services industry in accordance with FCA objectives. The division also coordinates and supports the work of the whole of the FCA in order to reduce financial crime and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.

These are critical times for the financial markets and we are continually presented with challenging and intellectually stimulating cases. Our work attracts large scale media attention and helps to shape the future for the regulation of firms and markets, and the protection of investors and consumers. We have a permanent vacancy for an Advanced Associate within the Cyber Forensic Team.

What does this job involve?
The Cyber Forensic Unit is part of the Enforcement & Market Oversight Division within FCA. This Unit comprises the of digital forensics and eDiscovery roles and undertakes a wide range of tasks. Your role within this structure includes:

Management of a dedicated team and its resources
Ownership of your stakeholder relationships demonstrating the added value of your services to investigation teams
Development of our digital forensic strategy
Provision of digital forensic and eDiscovery services to support the Division
Management of evidential review platform services
Providing advice to the Division in forming digital forensic strategy plans including recovery, processing and viewing
Advice to the Division regarding evidential review and use of platforms/services
Collection of digital evidence/material during onsite visits
Raising the profile of digital forensics within the FCA and externally in appropriate digital forensic communities
A large part of your role will be dealing with Investigation Case Teams and will involve day to day hands on digital forensic investigations utilising a variety of tools such as FTK, Nuix, or X-Ways products.

You should be able to explain yourself in a clear and confident manner, demonstrate a strong working knowledge of digital forensic tools, understand the legislation and codes of practice under which we operate, and resolve Case Team queries.

You will need to work closely with case teams knowing the importance and timeliness of their work, providing solutions to their individual and collective problems as they arise.

You will have your own case load, managing your resources to achieve the goals of the investigation as detailed in the forensic strategy.

You will have clear communication skills with ability to translate technical issues into lay terms.

Which minimum, essential & desirable skills are required?
Minimum

Experience as an investigator
Experience of working on criminal cases.
Working under pressure
Understanding of Association of Chief Police Officers 'Good Practice Guide for Digital Evidence'
Excellent communication skills
Ability to prioritise work.
Experience of people management
Essential

Experience of giving evidence in court or tribunal
Experience of attending search warrants
Desirable

Industry certifications such as CFCE or ACE
Project management
Practical experience in the use of FTK or similar products.
Understanding or practical experience of eDiscovery tools
Sound knowledge of the structure, principles and responsibilities of the FCA.
Basic understanding of the work of other FCA business units.
Understanding of the ISO accreditation
