Is this really necessary to run up to 11 trackers on FF?
Rolf,
Are you referring to trackers that are made visible by a Firefox plugin tool such as NoScript?
My understanding is that such trackers help drive revenue to websites that employ the trackers.
Yes, or other add-ons aka plugins on e.g. chrome. All spying and tracking on website usage, link delaying, mouse-over tracking - just crap I hate.
Rolf,
I'm not entirely sure which code you're referring to but the scripts at Forensic Focus, in common with most other websites I imagine
- Display and rotate advertisements from our advertising partners
- Track site usage (e.g. number of visitors, which sections are most/least popular)
- Extend functionality (e.g. social sharing)
If you have any concerns feel free to PM me.
Jamie
Did you just imagine? Ad optimizing is ok, but there are more trackers, you can check yourself please?
I'm not sure what you're referring to, is there some particular code causing concern?
How many trackers do you count on FF?
Rolf, I'm sorry, my time is fairly limited at the moment, if there's something concerning you please just spell it out (you can PM me if you prefer). What is it that you're worried about?
ok
I see thirteen 1st Party Cookies mostly doing Google Analytics stuff and weirdly '__sharethis_cookie_test__' which could probably be dropped or renamed(!), five 3rd party Cookies of which four are for sharing/dynamic content and one for DoubleClick/GoogleAds and twenty five 3rd party requests mostly to do with Google Analytics / Custom Search and a few for Facebook Connect.
Last I checked, Forensic Focus accounts are free and the resources are free to use. That means that we the users are the product being sold, hence targeted ads that are mostly trying to sell computer forensic tools, services and expos. None of which I have any issue with. With the best will in the world, if you do, I would recommend one of these
