Hi, I was wondering if anyone has run into this issue.
After an examination of a victims (owner) iPhone-X I decided to make a full back up of that iphone using itunes.

When I opened iTunes it detected the phone but gave it MY NAME in iTunes.

I went no further and the phone itself still had the victims (owners) name.

I shot down iTunes then attempted it again and the same issue happened so I aborted the idea of making the backup.

About an hour later the owner called me and apparently, after taking it out of Airplane mode, the name on the actual device changed to my name.

I contacted the owner of the device and she stated that the contacts and all of the data appear to be unchanged, just the name of the phone is now my name.

Any idea on how I can change this back when I meet her again?

I do not have an iPhone X handy to test anything.

Larry

It happened because you used iTunes with default settings.

Not sure what you mean about default settings, but I ALWAYS use my itunes to make a backup of the phone I am acquiring and it always has been flawless until this time.

FYI I do have the box checked that does not allow the devices to be synced when attached to my computer.

After talking to a source much wiser than I, I believe now that the reason is that the device has never been given a friendly name and never trusted to another computer that when I plugged it into my laptop it took my laptops name and renamed the iphone friendly name to my name.

I believe that I can change that back in Settings when I see her again.

There are free tools that you can use (Belkasoft Acquisition Tool and Magnet Acquire for example) that can be used to take a backup of the device without using iTunes at all.

It's not recommended to use iTunes to acquire a backup of the device

I will look into those.

Thanks.

But, more importantly, I need to get my name off her device.
