Are the credentials hardware-backed for that handset? I'm thinking probably not…

There is possibly another way - try the password default_password

Tnx for info. I made a root with a modified boot partition, and then full dump.

I would been starting here https://www.getdroidtips.com/twrp-recovery-alcatel-u5-root/

Can you please write a few words on how you did it, specifying the resources ? Were you able to mount /data after TWRP recovery was flashed ?! Maybe the userdata partition wasn't encrypted at all ?

With these "older" Android versions it's easy to play, since you can easily flash partitions using the right scatter file - Mediatek MT6737M in this case.

Any feedback is welcome!

I check phone on gsma arena, then with UFED 4PC chose model but becouse do not have bootloader read dump I do with MTK generic android and partition is encrypted. Then I tray troguh recovery MTK backup and mount of user data partition not posible.

Then I find same phone flash same version of os with furious gold box and check one more time at new phone user partition is encrypted.

After that i read boot partition with UFST and with magisk root pach stock boot then with patched boot and UFST i flash only boot on old phone for extract data. Few more click and phone have root in airplane mode

I'm glad it worked out for you )

Patching boot.img is not safe for devices which check signature, it can lead to bricked device or if the wiping script is run from the recovery partition, then a fresh new factory reset device. Always test this method on a dummy device first!
