West Yorkshire Police are looking to recruit one Digital Forensic Technical Officer, on a fixed term contract (expires March 2020), to work in the Digital Forensic Unit based at Calder Park in Wakefield.

The Digital Forensic Technical Officer will work under the direction of the Technical Manager completing relevant tasks with regard to the units ISO17025 accreditation and compliance with the Forensic Science Regulator guidance, ensuring all equipment and staff are compliant with the unit requirements.

You will be responsible for the testing and validation of Digital Forensic hardware, software and processes, which may include the population of test devices, acquiring a range of Digital devices and producing standard operating procedures for staff.

You will also have to complete a schedule of competency testing and audits on staff within the unit against the quality manual ensuring that staff are compliant with Unit processes delivering best evidence in prosecutions.

To be considered for this role you must hold a degree in Computer Forensics or have relevant experience and expertise and have a good knowledge of common operating systems and applications, such as Windows, MacOS, Linux, iOS and Android.

You will be organised and have a disciplined approach to work with an ability to plan and manage your own workload and have the ability to produce detailed and accurate written reports.

The successful candidate will have the ability to complete the ISO 17025 internal auditor’s course and be prepared to work flexible hours to suit the requirements of the department, including working outside of normal working hours in some circumstances.

In addition you will have a full current UK/European driving licence and have the ability and willingness to travel around Force area for business purposes and be prepared to successfully undertake management vetting procedures including financial checks.

You will need to have physical and emotional resilience to deal with abusive and offensive imagery of extreme violence.

The successful candidate may also be required to complete external Digital Forensic / UKAS training courses, as well as complete in house training requirements.
