Evidence Management training

Post Posted: Jul 11, 19 14:25

Does anyone know of a good training on managing evidence (both digital and non-digital like documents, weapons, etc.) ?

We are building a training roadmap for the people in charge of our evidence room and would like to know if there are some good training on the subject. At the moment, the training of new employees is mostly one person teaching to another, but I think some formal training might also be beneficial, specially when needed to testify in court.

Thanks

For now, I have found 2 organizations that seem legit:

- Evidence Management Institute (https://evidencemanagement.com/) offers a 2-days live training (350$) and certification (50$ 1year / 100$ 3 years)

- IAPE International Association for Property & Evidence (https://home.iape.org/) offers a 2-days live training or a 14 hours online training (375 $ for live or online class). They also offer a course for the supervisor of the evidence room. They offer live classes in Canada.

Anyone have any review on either of those organization?

Feel free to reach out via DM if you don't want to post this publicly, but what is the level of knowledge in your organisation?

Is there a law enforcement agency you have a working partnership with? LEO/LEA bodies generally have a good working knowledge of chain of custody and chain of integrity requirements.

Seasoned Police officers are generally a good point of contact when it comes to chain of custody and requirements when testifying. I'd ensure those organisations are well qualified before engaging them.
