I've got some PMM files (extension .pmm) which I believe are basically images of EEPROM from two Nokia GSM phones. One is a 3100, the other a 3150. Does anyone know how to open and extract data from these files? I've read they can contain address books and other valuable information. Any and all information any of you have about these type of files would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi,

Here's a site that I found on a quick search - all the information was obtained from reverse-engineering the Nokia memory modules and gives relevant addresses and encoding formats

http//gsmsearch.com/nfree/

If you've already got the files saved to your hard drive the simplest thing would be to open them in a HEX editor and start from there. To make any sense of the data you'll need to get hold of the Unicode character table as well as brush up your basic assembler skills to understand the low/high byte format. Failing that, you might try looking at the postings in the commercial and open-source forums for a suitable application.

If you've never looked at ROM dumps before say so and we can discuss the general points in more detail - assuming this is within the remit of these forums of couse )

HTH,

Neil
