I can't seem to find a rules section of this forum. I'm considering adding a simple signature, but I don't want to do anything non-compliant that might get me banned.

Is there a rules page? Or can anyone at least tell me what the rules are related to signatures? (E.G. are links allowed?, Is it OK to mention the name of company where you work?, etc.).

I'm certainly not looking to SPAM or anything, and I want to comply with the rules. I just know it's nice to sometimes know who you are talking to as it gives context to their input.

No Takers? For example, if I put a link like this in my signature would it be a violation?

I've seen a couple of people use sigs with a link but not many. I don't know if there is an official rule.

On registration you agreed to an AUP, which contains pretty strict rules about signatures and advertising as well. If you are in doubt, before doing anything, better contact the FF staff and ask your questions. )

Well, the Forum is for digital investigators wink , Rules are called Acceptable Use Policy and filed as Privacy Policy 😯 here
http//www.forensicfocus.com/index.php?name=privacy_policy

but no, there is nothing specific about signatures AFAICU, there is this

You agree not to post any messages advertising or promoting any product, website, publication, event, service or other venture, regardless of whether or not it is for profit (second hand items may be advertised in the appropriate forum). The forums and messaging facilities are strictly non-commercial. If you wish to advertise at Forensic Focus please see the relevant advertising section in the main menu for details. Furthermore, please note that promoting a petition or survey is not deemed acceptable use of the forums and/or messaging facilities.

even if it is not-so-rare that this or that thread or post slightly deviates and actually makes ( or seems to make) a sideways promotion or advertising for this or that product (but this is deemed to happen when someone is discussing tools and procedures), and there have been quite a few people joining the forum just to ask members to take part in this (or that) survey.

Mentioning the company where one works (or with which he/she is involved) is actually considered a good thing, in the sense of "full-disclosure", as a matter of fact it happened in the past that people actually connected to firms and attempting to "hide" their connections to them (while recommending this or that product) were banned.

Quite a few members have in their signature a reference to the company they work for and some are also "live" links, so personally I don't see that as a problem, but you can PM jamie and ask him directly

As things stand at the moment, a simple sig with company details and a URL is fine. However, hyperlinked, SEO-style anchor text (as per the example) would not be acceptable as part of a forum signature I'm afraid - sorry.

Thanks for getting back to me. I didn't know who to ask about this.

So would a signature like this be acceptable?
