Hertfordshire Constabulary are now seeking applications from suitably qualified Forensic Collision Investigators who are looking for a lateral transfer to join this specialist team within the Collaborated Joint Protective Services of Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire.

The successful applicants will be first class communicators and will be able to demonstrate a sound knowledge of, and recent operational experience in Forensic Collision Investigation and Vehicle Examination, as well as the following compulsory qualifications:

• Competent with Photography

Investigating Officer/OIC. Officers will be required to investigate fatal collisions in the role of investigator and work closely with the SIO in relation to Investigation Strategies, conducting the investigation, which will also include interviewing of suspects and witnesses, file preparation and submission.

Professional development as an FCI is ongoing throughout appointment and will involve related training and CPD to further enhance the evidence produced by an FCI.

FCI’s are considered by Courts as ‘expert witnesses’ and give evidence as such.

It would be advantageous for applicants who are familiar with the use of CAD software packages

The successful applicant will be part of an “on call” rota and be expected to carry out that function on a regular basis. Those applicants who are successful will then be required to attend a medical, fitness test and an advanced driving assessment.
The Senior Management Team reserveteh right to call applicants to final Interview.

Any offer would be subject to satisfactory complains and discipline checks, references, medical, vetting and security checks.
The Forensic Collision Investigation Unit endeavors to reflect the diverse communities we serve and to build an inclusive workforce where everyone is valued and respected. We actively encourage applications from underrepresented or minority groups.
