Game - Lefdal Mine DC hacking

Post Posted: Sat May 13, 2017 9:27 pm

We got from outside a challenging game given to test a new form of Public Private Partnership between a Swiss Financial Institute and Law Enforcement. Until now it was impossible to work together in a 'positive issue' way, as we investigate in general post-crime tasks. This is a test run in form of a game - for us to sharpen our skills.

The newly opened Lefdal Mine Datacenter in Måløy is besides economical aspects the most secure datacenter actually in Europe due to physical security. A Mine you cannot overrun. But the crux is how to find the weakest point from Zurich Switzerland AS8883 to Måløy and there the latest fibre node until entering the mine. Given are the following links:

The challenge:

1# Try to find the weakest point to hack (feel free to share or not)
2# Explain how you found out (if you want)
3# Propose how to protect (please share to learn)

In addition is given by default that all traffic (encrypted inside an IP-Sec VPN, both 256bit AES) runs over BGP Border Gate Protocol v2 and is IPv6 TCP/IP MPLS-based and VMware virtualized (tripple mirrored, no hyper converged computing).

If you can calculate the probability of an earthquake in Måløy based on the last 30 years you are top of class.

Hang-in if you like to game, skip if you find this boring. You are welcome!
