Hi All,

Strange problem, i've looked around online but keep getting the wrong type of links on Google possibly due to my search terms.

I have a Samsung S6 that has 'USB not Recognised' on three different forensic machines. I have changed the mainboard into a known working donor handset, hoping it was an issue with the port/daughterboard, however this failed. Tried on an additional donor handset again failure. I did test both donor handset before completing the board transfer.

Unfortunately, it appears it's not the port but must be something present on the main board, although i'm unable to distinguish what.

Please can i ask if someone has come across something like this? or knows what the component could be?

Only relevant link i found pointed to ROM corruption.

I've hooked the device up when powered on and in the OS. I've also tried in bootloader mode and still not recognised (Just in case it was a USB driver issue).

Want to attempt a forensic partition recovery. UFED bluetooth always completes when it's not actually complete and XRY wifi extraction doesn't get media.

Cheers,

Chris

Chris,

I could not tell from your post if the S6 is operable, but if it is, you could use Compelson's MOBILedit Forensic Express to collect the device via WiFi or Bluetooth.

Basically, you first have to install the MOBILedit Forensic Connector to the phone using the phone's Google Play app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.compelson.mefconnector&hl=en).

Once the forensic connector is installed on the phone, you can run MOBILedit Forensic Express to perform an extraction via WiFi or Bluetooth directly to your forensic workstation (which must be on the same WiFi network as the phone being collected).

If the phone is rooted, you can direct MOBILedit Forensic Express to create a physical extraction to an internal SD card.

A single phone use license is around $100.00 if you do not want to buy an unlimited license.
