Is it worth anything to take ACE exam and get cert? Or not worth spending the time on it?
Thank you!
It's always worth it to me to have as many certifications as I can when testifying in court. The ACE is much easier than the EnCE in my opinion. I think it's worth having, specially if you are going to use AD's products for any of your analysis.
Thank you! I'm still finishing the Masters, and we use AD all the time so I figured I might as well get a cert.
As Troy said…it's probably one of the easier/easiest certs. Did it when bored one afternoon at work and had to nip off for a meeting in the middle of it and still came back to finish it with no issue.
So as he says, it won't hurt to have it on the CV/statement, and you really might as well.
Just brush up on their particular terminology for their products' various features and you should be fine (otherwise you might still come unstuck despite good general CF knowledge).
Don't mean to hijack the thread.
Does one definitely need FTK to take the ACE exam? Referencing specific FTK interface features and functions? Or can you use other forensic software?

Haven't done it for a while….but pretty certain it was quite heavily product specific rather than general.
I recommend considering Passmark's OSForensics certification

The training course is $399.00
The certification test is $99.00
You do need access (no pun intended) to FTK to take the ACE. While most of the questions are fairly generic, the last few require specific values from examination of a provided image file.
There are some online training videos that AD make available that are quite helpful. Whenever I have renewed the cert it has always reminded me of a helpful feature I had forgotten.
It will probably never be essential but what harm can it do and its free.
