Is it possible to image an Android phone that is locked without ADB debugging enabled and without the phone rooted? The phone is an Motorola Moto XT1021 and it is running Android 5.1 (Lollipop).

Is there any open-source equivalent software? Or would it be advisable to use Linux tools to do it?

DEFT Linux has an excellent guide on acquisition of Android devices using their Linux distribution:

www.deftlinux.net/doc/EN-deft7.pdf

However, DEFT does not cover the screen lock exploit your phone requires.

Are you current LE in the US? If so PM me and I will extract the phone for you and send you a UFED file and UFED Reader report at no charge.
