Greater Manchester Police's Counter Terrorism Policing North West is recruiting for 3 Digital Forensic Investigators

Grade G/I - £27,519 - £34,440 per annum.

Based at GMP Force Headquarters - Central Park.

Closing date 28th November 2017.

The Counter Terrorism Policing, North West was set up in 2007 and it is one of five CTUs, established to strengthen the UK’s response to the threat from terrorism.

The CTP North West is part of the national counter terrorism network and supports the police service in the UK to prevent or respond to incidents of terrorism.

The Unit draws on a wide range of expertise including; skilled detectives, financial investigators, counter terrorism security advisors, Prevent officers, intelligence analysts, forensic specialists and digital-forensic investigators

In this role you will provide specialist high-tech support to investigation of crimes falling within National, Regional and Force Counter Terrorism and Extremism control strategies.

You will secure and provide evidence, intelligence and specialist hi-tech support to CTU investigations, by securing evidence from computers and their storage media and present this in a manner acceptable to the courts with the aim of securing prosecution.

The successful candidate will have extensive experience of using computers, being competent in computer investigations and have excellent knowledge of the use of Forensic Software packages. In addition it is essential that they have knowledge of computer networks and terrorism legislation and have the ability to use a variety of proprietary software applications.

They should be able to interrogate computer systems in order to obtain relevant information and have the ability to identify the working components of a personal computer and its functions.

They should be able to alter and adapt their communication style in order to explain technical information in a way that is clearly understandable and meets the needs of the audience both verbally and written.

They should have a degree in Digital Forensics or similar or have relevant experience and is able to demonstrate the same level of knowledge/training.

The should be prepared to undertake certification in the following areas once in post :-
Forensic Foundations
Internet Forensics
Network Forensics
Mobile Forensics

It is essential that the successful candidate is willing to work out of the GMP force area, regionally, nationally and internationally, participating in an on call standby scheme on a rota basis.
