Cyber Forensics & Incident Response Technician, Portsmouth

Fusion Forensics is a leading provider of cyber and digital forensic services in the UK for governmental departments, law enforcement, defence lawyers and commercial organisations.

Fusion specialises in Computer and Cyber Forensics, Incident Response, Compliance Services, Training and Consultancy, Mobile Phone Forensics, Cell Site Analysis, Audio/Video Forensics, Chip-Off/JTAG/ISP Forensics, Data Recovery, Open Source Internet Investigations and Expert Witness Services.

We are currently seeking a Cyber Forensics & Incident Response Technician to join our team.

The prospective candidate will have BSc or MSc in 'Cyber Security and Forensic Computing' or 'Forensic Information Security'. As a Cyber Forensics & Incident Response Technician you will report directly to a Senior Cyber Forensics & Incident Response Consultant and required to deal with urgent requests in a professional and timely manner.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Assist with cyber investigations, working under limited supervision;
• Provide incident response capabilities to clients and senior colleagues;
• Provide security advice and guidance to clients who have suffered a data breach;
• Stay up-to-date with all relevant cyber incident news and attack trends.

Required Skills & Experience

• Proven knowledge of Cyber Forensics and Incident Response practices;
• Fundamental knowledge of both live and offline acquisition techniques;
• Fundamental knowledge of memory analysis;
• Fundamental knowledge of common operating systems; Microsoft, Linux, and OSX;
• Excellent communication and writing skills;
• Attention to detail;
• Good organisational and time-management skills;
• Ability to convey technical information to non-technical people, both in print and verbally.

Desirable Skills

• PowerShell scripting and queries;
• Alternative scripting or programming experience;
• Knowledge of networks/server topology, operating systems and software applications;
• Experience of malware and reverse engineering;
• Experience of vulnerability scanning or penetration testing;
• Experience of network traffic analysis;
• Knowledge of FSR’s Codes of Conduct.


22 days annual holiday plus Bank Holidays

Job Type

This role will be based at our head office, laboratory and training centre in Portsmouth, Hampshire.
