Please stop spamming the forums with this.

You've had everyone in here help you, and like you said, you have "the best of the best", yet you still come here and ask questions and attempt with 0 training and OUR help to further a narrative which none of the people you have hired have arrived at.

IMHO you seem like a very difficult client to work for, the kind that call and tell "the expert" how to do their job.

I'm all for helping people, do it all the time and lots of pro bono, but you continue to refuse to provide data that people ask for in order to help you. Your last message in general said you didn't need to upload anything anymore CASE CLOSED if I remember.

the other post was not getting any answers..so I thought the software forum may have different experts.

Only about this specific point, the members are the SAME all over the board, a post in "Forensic Software" may get more attention than one in "General Discussion" but it would be a rare case, and in any case the idea of the "Forensic Software" is to contain topics about "Software tools useful for digital forensics" and their usage, not about forensic questions about generic software or OS (such as windows 8.1)

I have worked in law enforcement as part of an Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force in the US. I've also worked as an investigator and expert for defense counsel. I understand how frustrated and worried you must be about your nephew. It is hard to manage client expectations in cases involving digital forensics because of the technical aspects of such cases and the overwhelming amount of information that the expert has to pour over.

I would give your expert the time allotted to him (you said Tuesday is when you expect a response) before asking for input from a bunch of different people. One, you risk exposing confidential information that may or may not be exculpatory or worse yet, depending on the response from the community of experts, may actually further implicate him in this case (I'm not inferring as to whether he is guilty, so please do not take it as such. When prosecuting or defending cases, there is a ton of strategy that goes into what will or won't be brought up in court, and sometimes it has very little to do with the truth, but more to do with the perception that can be left with a jury). Second, anyone willing to comment on the technical aspects of this case would be doing so without the benefit of the complete file, evidence, and therefore context as to what is going on in the case. It's is difficult to ask professionals in forensics to render opinions without the entire case file. If they were to render an opinion without having a complete knowledge of the case, and offered an opinion based on the limited information, that opinion could be used against them in the future if they are called upon to testify in a similar case. Attorneys (both prosecutor and defense) worth their salt, look for anything and everything ever published or referred to by the experts in the case, both to bolster their credibility and to impeach it.

I hope this helps you understand better why there may be hesitation as to why people in the community are not gung-ho about shooting off opinions.

bostoncelltech; You are very kind, thanks. I'm learning (albeit very slowly) that this a game…a high stakes one..and I had hoped that the forensics would be ABLE to prove what really happened, so that we could be the one forging the trial for those that come behind us. We do NOT know WHAT happened, but we do know that he did not do it…and my head is still spinning as to why that is not 100% apparent from the forensics. That's why I keep hiring more forensics people…I believe 100% in his innocence…so that leaves me to the conclusion..that this field has levels of expertise & experience and that I'd eventually find someone that could find the evidence. I've even called the FBI and Secret service to see if they'd help look at the lap top..assuming that their skills would be such that NOTHING WOULD GET PAST THEM… but of course they are not jumping on board to help.

I'm just a naive family member that is stuck in this nightmare that shines a light about out bad the justice / injustice system is and why there are organizations like Caution Click and the Innocence Project out there trying to get reform. I'll like join their causes when I get on the other side of this and hope that I can affect change.

I'd also like to learn forensics so that I can figure out what is and is not apparent from these files ripped off the computer. I guess..I'll have to find a different forum and this time keep my mouth shut about the fight that I'm fighting…and just ask the forensics questions vaguely…For example..wanted to know what UNLOCK (7) even means..I'm told it means a user logs on..but then he does not have to..so someone out there must have figure this out and can confirm the. I paid for Microsoft support $149 tonight to see if they'll help me get some answers, but oddly..their expertise is somewhat limited also…seems they live and die by that Event Viewer… I'm learning.. Thanks to all and I'll be signing off and making my hunt for knowledge on various other forums indiscreetly. ) peace out and thanks again.

Did law enforcement even submit a forensic report?
What does there report say; is it accurate?
