Cyber & Digital Forensics Internship

Fusion Forensics is seeking an enthusiastic and business-minded Cyber / Digital Forensics student looking for industry experience, to fill a Cyber & Digital Forensics Internship placement with our team based in Portsmouth, Hampshire.

Fusion Forensics is a leading provider of cyber and digital forensic services in the UK for governmental departments, law enforcement, defence lawyers and commercial organisations. Fusion specialises in Computer and Cyber Forensics, Incident Response, Compliance Services, Training and Consultancy, Mobile Phone Forensics, Cell Site Analysis, Audio/Video Forensics, Chip-Off/JTAG/ISP Forensics, Data Recovery, Open Source Internet Investigations and Expert Witness Services.

About You

The successful candidate will be currently reading (or have attained) a BSc or MSc in Cyber Security and/or Forensic Computing (or a similar discipline) and actively considering an industry placement plus:
• Has an interest in working with a young, dynamic, creative company in the field of cyber & digital forensics and information security / compliance.
• Are personable, motivated, enthusiastic and able to display initiative;
• Be organised, task oriented and resourceful;
• Have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal;
• Display excellent time management skills;
• Be UK based and be permitted to work here.[/align]

About the Position

The primary role is to provide support to the cyber & digital forensic team. This involves maintaining the evidential chain of custody, examination photography and forensic imaging from a breadth of digital devices such as computers, satellite navigation devices, mobile phones and their associated media. Opportunities may also arise to accompany the team on field deployments.
In return you have the chance to contribute to the growth of an exciting young company in this sector. On satisfactory completion of the internship, we will be happy to provide references for you. If a successful relationship develops, there is potential for this role to become a paid position.

Description of Tasks
• Administrative tasks maintaining the evidential chain of custody;
• Initial checks of devices;
• Examination photography and forensic imaging;
• Observing and/or assisting in digital forensic examinations consisting of prosecution, defence and commercial cases;
• Assisting with general administration tasks associated with digital forensic examinations;
• Keeping up to-date with new process and digital devices;
• Accompanying Fusion consultants on field deployments;
• Monitoring workload and advising team / management of any issues.
As the Cyber & Digital Forensics Intern, you will report directly to the Cyber & Digital Forensics Manager and be responsible for the timely and accurate processing of digital devices.

Length of Engagement
6-12 months
