iPhone Live Photos - Forensic Examination

Post Posted: Jan 22, 19 14:55

We have recently had an interesting case where six individuals received via AirDrop 4 pictures all unsolicited including a single Live Photo of a mobile phone of an erect penis. The Live Photo was taken using an iPhone which includes a short video clip. The live photo and two other photos of the same male appendage was sent to the aforementioned six individual to their private mobile phones.

We are operating in a commercial environment and none of the six came forward about what was received but one person did forward the photos to their manager. The video clip shows a Samsung Smartphone on a desk with the photo of the erect penis and then two hands appear left and right of the Samsung phone. We therefore concluded that two separate individuals were involved. One of whom took the live photo using his/her iPhone.

Has anyone examined live photos and managed to extract any metadata or other evidential material?

Kind regards
