MSAB XRY - iOS Rapid targeted extraction

Post Posted: Nov 03, 19 11:44

Hi all,

I'm trying to understand the following announcment from MSAB XRY v8.1.2 (great release btw):
"Rapid targeted extraction of baseline data on iOS devices"

Anyone know what exactly this profile does? because it seems the same as regular iTunes backup from any other iPhone profile..
Or is it the same just selective and faster?

thank you in advance,

Hi John!

Happy to hear you like the latest release! The new targeted extraction method will instead of doing the whole backup simply target specific data and only extract that content. As we do not perform the entire backup the extraction method is a lot quicker. The profile can currently extract the Contacts, Installed apps, SMS/MMS/iMessages, Calendar events and Safari bookmarks. Calls can also be extracted with this method but not on iOS 13 as it requires iTunes backup encryption to be enabled which is currently not supported with the targeted extraction.

As an example an extraction of my test device normally takes 35 minutes while the targeted method took 2 minutes and extracted 19,000 messages! The profile can also be tailored in the triage setup and you can set up a profile to only extract SMS which can likely be done in under a minute!
