Post Posted: Mar 02, 09 14:21

My iPhone Forensics white paper (101 pages) is now available for download at:

chicago-ediscovery.com...paper.html

Thanks to all who assisted with the peer review. I have started a white paper on Android Forensics and plan to share the details on this topic also.

Thx Andrew for this very informative paper. We have the same results like you but just from an practical point of view. We use the cellbrite and Jonathan's solutions for the iPhone. Up to know in more than 90% only cellebrite (logical).

Andrew, as siggi-sche mentioned, a very informative report.

What I found as interesting as the testing methodology was the visual presentation of the output harvested data by each reading system. Some of the reading systems that gave visually pleasing presentation of the data didn't exactly score very well. I wonder how many people are taking these systems based on visual presentation of the output?

Andrew perhaps you might wish to consider having a Table at the beginning of the report that displays your rankings of the examined IPhone reading systems and each ranked element. That way your findings can be seen at a glance. Thereafter your analysis can be read about each reading system with the rankings at the end of each analysis.

Can I also suggest you include in the Table the cost of each device + extras (maintenance/upgrade) and those that are free. For instance, Pwange Tool, wasn't that a free tool I believe?

Andrew, thank you for your VERY useful paper.

If I may suggest something, it would be interesting in an upcoming version of the paper to add a review of XRY/XACT and Mobiledit Forensic as acuisition and analysis platforms.
