Hey

Has anyone got any suggestions about work placement opportunities within the Midlands especially in the Forensic Computing, or Network Security field.

If you have been on a placement or have any contacts please drop me a message. Alternatively if you are a company looking for an undergraduate who is specialising in Forensic Computing (BSc) please let me know!

Many thanks

Ian.

Hey Ian,

My name is Maya and I am in the same situation like you. I am taking a MSc in Forensic Computing and I have to undertake a placement. I have been looking and so far I had no chance also. Same with most of my student mates.
I have contacted directly some companies but I received no replies. Law agency in my home country turned down my request because I was a student. I am trying to prolong it by writing first my dissertation.
Anyhow, just to let you know that there more in the same situation and it seems to be difficult for students to find placement in forensic because of the nature of businesses (cases involved).
Let us know if you have any chance.

Maya.

Hey Maya

Thanks for your reply.

In this country (UK) its unlikely we can get a placement in a government sector due to secuirty.

I am trying to find a placement with a local data recovery which I reckon will provide me with just as much if not more experience, relavent to my degree.

Any how, good luck with your degree and current projects

Ian

Hi guys,

We're thinking about offering a student work placement after Christmas, so if you'd like to e-mail me your CVs we'll take a look and be in touch in the new year.

It's almost certainly going to be based on Mobile Phone forensics rather than computer forensics though, so it's your call, pun intended -).

Hello Justin,

Thanks for posting. How long do you intend the placement to run? Most universities at the moment insist a year in industry as part of their degree schemes.

Look forward to your reply.

Ian.

Hi Ian,

We're thinking somewhere between 12 - 24 months depending on what the candidate and university wants and what we can accomodate.

Warm regards,

Justin.

Hello Justin,

Thank you for your post. Just to let you know I will forward you my CV before Christmas for your attention regarding the placement position.

Kindest regards,

Ian.

(NB 23/12/05, Justin I have sent the email with CV attached. I have been compiling my notes for exam preparation for the new year, hence the delay in sending my information through - many thanks, and Merry Christmas)

Kind regards, Ian.
