Being the only one working in forensics in my company - i have been asked to come up with evaluation criteria to be used for my assessment! problems is although I know what work I do & have good customer refs - how do I write such criteria objectively? Any guidance or direction would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks & Regards,

Did you get an initial interview with your boss where he/she laid out their expectations in writing? If so, just develop an assessment checksheet based on those expectations (whether you met/did not meet them). If not, go back and look at your job description, and make an assessment sheet out of it. It should break down your job description and indicate whether you fulfilled thoses responsibilities or not. (Go/no go approach)

If the assessment is objective, this approach may work. If it's subjective, your boss may write whatever they want anyway…!

Thanks for the input Bobby. My Job Description is fairly broad - as Security Consultant - but as 90% of my work is around Forensics & IRH - The standard eval criteria didnt quite fit the work I do.

Not to worry, thanks your help. Will try & build something from that.

Thanks & Regards,

MindSmith,

We have developed a Professional Development Portfolio here in Kent in the UK that is used to assess the development of new staff. It is an ongoing project that is being expanded to include the development of existing staff and includes amongst other things a competency framework to assess people against.

If you would like a copy, let me know and I will email you a sample

regards

Ian
