Hi all,

I have a Proshow exe slideshow I need to get a single photo from. There are approx 80 images embedded within the exe.I haven't yet starting deconstructing the file but was just wondering whether anyone has any info on the makeup of the executable created by Proshow or the protection methods that are applied.

I can use a screen capture to grab the image but would prefer to extract as much info out of the exe as possible.

As far as I'm aware there are no copyright issues here.

Thanks,
Ian

Greetings,

Off the top of my head, have you tried running a file carver against the executable? I've not tried this myself so don't know if it'd work, but it is worht a try.

David,

I've just got back to this now - I've run scalpel against the file and it's been able to extract all of the individual jpg's from the exe. However all of the photos are skewed and colour tones are off so it looks like photodex has applied some sort of file coding that is decoded by the PhotoDex presenter (also embedded within the exe).

However the good news is that all the metadata has been retained (camera/date time) which is what I was looking for. I've just used SnagIt to capture the actual photo itself to a jpg file.

Cheers,
Ian

Greetings,

Thank you for the update! It is really helpful when people close the loop as you did.
