Hello fellow ForensicForum members,

My first time, so please be gentle with me.

Am hoping someone can help me to help a friend who has been accused of something of which he has convinced me he is innocent.

It could end up with him losing his job or even being prosecuted.

An issue occurred while he was working and he was accosted by an individual so my buddy said he would be reporting the other for his actions.

A short while later, this individual approached him and engaged him in conversation over the matter. The entire encounter lasted around a minute and ended with the other individual saying something on the lines of “So you were in the wrong, weren’t you?” My friend told me he knew he wasn’t in the wrong so said “OK. Here’s where we disagree….?

He didn’t know the other was recording him during both encounters from his smart-phone (the first incident having been orchestrated by the other guy, it now appears) until an individual who is investigating the matter accused him of causing the incident and showed him a copy of the videos, in evidence.

My friend denied the charge and asked for a copy of the videos.

The first video, lasting around 20 seconds, seems legit and is just of the incident.

The other (follow-up) video ends extremely abruptly after my friend said “OK” but before he finished what he was saying, being that he disagreed.

I ran both videos through “VideoCleaner” as well as a couple of non-related videos from my own mobile phone.

All except the video in question (where my friend says “OK”) share the same meta data attributes in that the “General” section, “Video” section and “Audio” section have the same date and timestamps as each other.

With the queried video, however, the “Video” and the “Audio” sections share the same date and time data but such is around fifteen minutes later than the differing “General” section’s date and time stamp.

Would I likely be right in concluding the video file was cropped after the word “OK” around fifteen minutes after it was recorded, from this revealed meta data?

Any help would be very, very much appreciated.

If needed, I think I can upload the “VideoCleaner” mediainfo file (which is a tiny Windows “Notepad” file).

Thanking everyone, in advance.

Seb
